Eligibility


1. The event is open to teams of three male golfers, 18 years old and over, who are members of an affiliated 9-hole golf club. All 3 players must be members of the same golf club.

2. More than one team from an eligible club (see list, click here) may enter. These teams of three players will be named e.g.; Foxbridge A, Foxbridge B, Foxbridge C and so on…….

3. Players must have a playing handicap of 24 or less, in the event that they hold a playing handicap over 24 the player will play off a handicap of 24 on the day. Note:- strokes received on the day will be ¾ handicap i.e. no player will receive more than 18 strokes.

4. All draw sheets, information & results etc will be communicated via the web site or by e-mail. If an entire team does not have access to either of these facilities, a request must be made at point of entry that communication is made by telephone/letter to a named representative of the team.


Event Rules Golf

1. The event will be played over 18 holes in accordance with the rules of golf as approved by R&A Rules Limited and in accordance with the Local Rules approved by hosting clubs and the National Nines committee.

2. The event will be a Stableford points competition.

3. The winning team will be the team with highest aggregate Stableford points total, all three players' scores will count.

a.  In the event of a tie after the normal countbacks have occurred, the team with the highest individual’s score will be declared the winner.

b.  If the teams are still tied, the highest scoring individuals' cards will be used to count back.

c. If the teams cannot still be separated, the 2 highest scoring players will pay a sudden-death Stableford match to decide the winning team.

4. Each player will receive ¾ of his playing handicap.

5. Proof of handicap will be required for all winning teams.

6. Start times will be published on the web site prior to the day. It is anticipated that in most cases there will be a break after 9 holes. In this instance a 10th tee start time will also be published.

7. It is the player’s responsibility, if appropriate, to return his card to his ‘home’ club for the purpose of handicapping. All events will be non-qualifying.


Event / Entry rules – Non Golf

1. Entry for any given regional event will be on a strictly first come first served basis. In the event that a venue is over-subscribed, teams will be invited to play at an alternative venue or put on a reserve list. A closing date will be declared for each venue, please see schedule for details.


2. All players in any team must be members of the same 9-hole golf course; they will represent their club during the event.

3. A club may be represented by more than one team.

4. An individual may play in more than one regional qualifying event in the same or different teams, however, in the event that they are in a team that wins more than one regional event they will represent only the team that FIRST qualified for the national final. In this case the team that finished runner up in the second or subsequent regional final will qualify for the national final instead.

5. All team entries will only be accepted upon payment of the full team entry fee. However, the names of all three players are not necessarily required at point of entry, as long as a team contact's name is provided and further names are given prior to the day of the event.

6. If a team or individual withdraws from the event less than 7 days before, the team will forfeit the entire entry fee.

7. Any one player within a team can be substituted/replaced up to the day of the event, on condition that the substituted player fulfils all the entry criteria.

8. A team may enter any of the regional qualifying events; regional events are arranged for the purpose of convenience and entry is not restricted on an area basis.

9. If a team enters more than one regional event rule 4 above applies.

10. In exceptional circumstances, if a winning regional team member is unable to attend the national final he may be substituted with an eligible player after agreement with the National Nines committee.


Finals Rules

1. All of the rules outlined above apply to the finals event.

2. One team will qualify from each regional final.

3. In the event that a player from a winning regional event cannot play the finals see note 10 above.

4. Accommodation and travel to and from the finals event:-

a.  National Nines Golf take no responsibility for players not being able to take their place in the national finals for any reason that relates to the travel or accommodation provided.

b. National Nines Golf will endeavour to accommodate an individual’s requirements, however it is the players’ responsibility to make themselves available to travel when requested.

c. Full terms and conditions relating to participation in the National finals event will be available upon qualification.
